My philosophy is simple: collaborating with a director in bringing their vision to life, while always serving the script. That is to say, in able for a director to focus his or her attention solely on the performances of actors and the direction of technicians on set, they must enter into a relationship of trust with a cinematographer that is as focused and passionate about bringing the story to the screen as they are.
I am truly interested in deeply understanding the story trying to come out in relation to the persona of the director, and where one can place the project within a long lineage of cinematic work. This holds true for all projects I work on: ones with large and small budgets, dramatic, music videos, corporate, it all boils down to our primordial need to express ourselves through storytelling.
Cinematography is not a job for me; it is an obsession that, as an artist painting with light, I pursue the advancement of the art form, as I hone my skills as a craftsperson. I look forward to hearing from you and about the story that you have the burning desire to tell.
